Sailing Instruction at Hempstead Harbour Club
For those new to sailing or simply looking to brush up on their skills, Hempstead Harbour Club offers sailing instruction for both the young and young at heart. Whether escaping for an afternoon day sail, cruising for several days or racing around the buoys, sailing is a wonderful family activity that appeals to all ages.
Junior Sailing
 HHC’s Junior Sailing program caters to first-time sailors as well as experienced racers and is open to both members and non-members. Beginning sailors as young as 8 years old learn basic sailing skills, seamanship and water safety, while Intermediate and advanced sailors refine their skills and learn racing tactics in preparation for sanctioned JSA regattas scheduled throughout the summer.
 HHC’s Junior Sailing program is seven weeks long and runs from Monday, June 25th through August 9th. Half-day sessions are held Monday thru Thursday and are led by the club’s staff of US Sailing-certified instructors who provide a learning experience that is both fun and safe.
New features! Our Summer 2012 program will feature several new events, including our first annual Glowstick Regatta, a parent-child Opti event and opportunities to sail on ‘big boats’.
Fees & Discounts
HHC’s Junior Sailing program continues to be the best deal on LI Sound. We offer an ‘Early Bird’ discount on all fees for those who register prior to April 30th and invite you to take advantage of our ’Refer a Friend’ offer for additional savings. Simply refer a friend for an additional $50 discount for you and your friend when both register for the program (limit one referral discount per family). Fees are listed on the program application. Get your applications in early to take advantage of these great discounts!
Adult Instruction
Brush up on your skills or learn to sail with friends in a relaxed and casual atmosphere on the club’s Rhodes 19. Adult instruction is given in small groups using the club’s Rhodes 19 daysailer and is scheduled on weekday evenings after work or on weekends. Adult Instruction makes a great gift for your non-sailing spouse or friends – all levels welcome. Adult Instruction can be scheduled at any time during the summer. Lesson packages of 3 2-hour lessons are competitively priced at just $250 per person*. Register with two friends and pay just $225 per person*.
